Leave Nothing But Footsteps, Take Nothing But Memories

Leave Nothing But Footsteps, Take Nothing But Memories

The river

on the Words and Wonders walk we encountered an ash tree poised on the very edge of the river, its roots either hanging grimly onto the stones or reaching out like uncertain toes to test the water. It could easily have come straight out of one of our 18th Century prints while the feeling of poised tension inspired us on our 21st century expedition….

The spirit moves

through the river

on her soft water

journey the still

bubbles rumble

as water

tumbles through the rocks

the trees hang with

bated breath

touching the bank

with his tremulous

roots

(Rachel Wood)

poised on the river bank.......
